The fire service issued a statement after being called in a large house fire in a village in Nottinghamshire. Five fire crews were dispatched to Cropwell Road in Radcliffe, Trent, at 12:30 a.m. Monday, May 9.
The service urged the public to avoid the area and residents to close their doors and windows, adding that the crews would be there for “some time”. Initially, the crews thought that there might be people in the house whose roof was completely on fire, but then it was confirmed that all were outside the property and no one was injured in the accident.
Phil Reville, group manager for the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “At around 12.30 we received a fire call this time in Radcliffe-on-Trent. Initially, two pumps were mobilized, there were some suggestions that there were people involved, so we sent a third device. Fortunately, everyone was out of the property when we arrived. One house seems to have had a fire that started either on the first floor or in the roof space and we have been working tirelessly for the last few hours to put out the fire.

“We currently have six devices here, about 30 firefighters, and our police colleagues have the road closed at the moment – it could be closed in the next two or three hours. When we arrived, the roof was on fire from one corner to the next and the first floor was also involved – so quite a provocative incident for the teams involved. The information when we arrived here was that the occupant’s mother was still in the property. get out of the property and safe. She is fine.”

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has warned they could be on the scene by Tuesday (May 10th) and say an investigation into the cause of the fire has begun. They thanked the public for their patience as they worked on Cropwell Road.
Mr Reville continued: “Due to the nature of the fire and the structural damage, we may be here for a few hours, probably even overnight and until tomorrow. We have our fire investigation team on the road. They will seek to find out from witnesses and evidence what the cause of the fire was, and then we will seek to hand it back to the occupier and open the road accordingly.
