New camera footage from an Indiana dashboard shows the dramatic moment in which Alabama fugitive Casey White was apprehended and the body of his accomplice by a correctional officer pulled out of their car on Monday after 11 days on the run.
Casey White, 38, and police officer Vicki White, 56, crashed their car in Evansville after leading police into a high-speed chase.
She died at the hospital Monday night from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Casey White was pulled out of the wrecked car first, by hand. Officers knelt on him to handcuff him, then took him from the wreckage to another cruiser.
His denim shirt is torn, but otherwise he looks unharmed, with his black sunglasses still on his face. He was checked, then fought on the floor.
The police then turned to Vicki White.
As the police approached the car, a police officer said, “We need to clear up some of this nonsense,” to get to it.
Another policeman, kneeling next to the overturned car, said: “He is still holding the gun in his hand.”
One added: “She is still breathing. The finger is still on the trigger.
After a few minutes of discussion, the officer bent down to pull the pistol from Vicki White’s hand. She is then pulled out of the car by hand. Then she lies on the road.
Casey White, 38, is seen on camera footage posted by Indiana police on Monday.
Casey White was serving a 75-year sentence for multiple crimes when he pleaded guilty to murder in 2015. Vicki White, who said she was taking him for a mental health assessment, fled with him on April 29.
The two carried $ 29,000 in cash, four pistols and an AR-15 rifle and were prepared for a shootout when they were captured, an Indiana sheriff said Tuesday.
The end of the persecution left authorities trying to figure out what happened in the 11 days that have passed since Vicki White escorted Casey White out of Florence, Alabama, for what she falsely claimed was a mental health assessment. .
The prisoner and Vicki White appear to have had a “prison romance,” Alabama officials said last week. They were not connected.
As for her role in the escape, the sheriff said: “He did not force her. It was a relationship.

Investigators believe the couple spent about six days hidden in a motel in Evansville.
Authorities found wigs designed to conceal their identities.
Dave Wedding, sheriff of Vandenburg County, said investigators did not believe the two had relatives or other contacts in the city of 120,000.
“They thought they drove long enough.” “They wanted to stop for a while, find their way around, and then figure out the next place to travel,” the sheriff said.
Authorities shut them down after a car wash manager said a man very much like Casey White, 6 feet 9 and 260 pounds, had been spotted by a surveillance camera getting off a pickup truck.
Investigators said they located the pickup, then learned that the couple may have moved to a Cadillac, which was then spotted in front of a nearby motel.
They arrived in Evansville on May 3 and received help from a local man, whose identity remains unknown.
Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, Motel 41 manager Paul Shaw said: “They stayed in a room not in their name. Someone else rented the room and registered them.
Motel 41 manager Paul Shaw told DailyMail.com that the runaway couple stayed in a room reserved for a third party.
“A local person with a local identification number registered and signed the little one.
I never saw them – I wish I had – but they stayed in the room.
According to Shaw: “People come and go here, we don’t follow.”
There were few cars in the motel’s parking lot when DailyMail.com visited the two-story facility on Tuesday.
All rooms are accessible regardless of external doors, and guests should never go through the small reception area except to use the vending machine or check in – a process White and Vicki avoided.
“The police have all the information and identity documents. “They were here and they talked to everyone,” Shaw said.
Shaw, an electrical engineer by profession, said he worked the morning shift and had never seen White or Vicki, who police said were trying to disguise themselves in various red and blonde wigs.
When the couple left the motel, police were chasing them, authorities said.
The two were captured on Monday afternoon after leading US marshals in a chase that lasted “less than a few minutes.” They have been in Evansville, Indiana, since May 3
