Jurgen Klopp explained that there is a “good chance” that Fabinho will be available for the Champions League final later this month.
Liverpool’s number 3 caused unwelcome fear on Tuesday night, grabbing his thigh and forcing him to leave the field in just 30 minutes.
The FA Cup final on Saturday was quickly rejected and it will be difficult for him to return for the two remaining Premier League games against Southampton (May 17) and the Wolves (May 22).
But this is the Champions League final, which is on everyone’s lips, will Fabinho be ready in time?
Klopp says there is a “good chance” he will be – and this should be kindly accepted, as the meeting with Real Madrid in Paris is less than 16 days away.
“There is a good chance he will be available for the Champions League final,” Klopp said on Thursday.
Speaking about the options without the influential midfielder, the boss added: “I have to [continue]. Because we can handle it. To have it or not to have it is a difference, but everything is fine. These are normal things that happen.
“He is never in a position where you have 12 options, he is always in a position where you are [don’t].
“We have several players. Hendo entered [at Aston Villa] and the game is amazing, he has played super games this season [No.] 6, so this is not a problem. “
With Jordan Henderson and Tiago almost certain, the question is who will Klopp look for to partner with the duo, especially at Wembley on Saturday.
Nabi Kate seems the most likely option, but Curtis Jones and James Milner have changed midfield in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Fabinho’s recovery has already begun in earnest, as the clock starts ticking on May 28 – but Klopp’s optimism means we can see him taking positive steps in his spare time.
