May 12 (Reuters) – Two senior Twitter leaders (TWTR.N) who monitor consumer and revenue departments will leave the social media company, CEO Parag Agraval told staff in a note Thursday, in one of the most the big turmoil in the company since billionaire Elon Musk announced he would buy it for $ 44 billion.
Agrawal also said in a note seen by Reuters that Twitter would pause most hires and review all existing job offers to determine if any “should be withdrawn.”
He attributes the decision in part to Twitter’s failure to reach key consumer and revenue growth points in order to maintain confidence that it can achieve the aggressive growth targets it set for itself in 2020.

“We must continue to be focused on our teams, hiring and spending,” Agraval wrote.
The company was targeting $ 7.5 billion in annual revenue and 315 million daily customers by the end of 2023, but withdrew those targets in its recent revenue statement.
Kaiwon Bakepour, who ran Twitter’s consumer division, and Bruce Falk, who monitored revenue, both tweeted Thursday that leaving was not their decision.
“Parag asked me to leave after he told me he wanted to take the team in another direction,” Bakepour tweeted, adding that he was still on paternity leave from Twitter.
“I will clarify that I was also fired from (Parag),” Falk said, although he later seemed to delete the tweet.
Falk thanked his team on a tweet and updated his resume to say “unemployed.”
“We managed to achieve the results we achieved through your hard work – the quarterly income does not lie. “Google it,” he said.
Jay Sullivan, who headed the consumer unit during Beykpour’s vacation, will become the department’s permanent head. He will also monitor the revenue team until a new leader is named, Agraval said in a note.
Although no layoffs are planned, Agraval said Twitter will reduce its spending on contractors, travel and marketing, as well as its footprint on real estate.
