Golden State Warriors star Clay Thompson received a technical foul after interceding for his Splash Brother counterpart Steph Curry during Friday’s playoff game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
With 3:23 left in the second quarter, Grizzlies keeper Dylan Brooks – who became a villain in the eyes of Golden State fans – pushed Curry in the back as players struggled to bounce back from the Grizzlies. The court. Brooks was immediately fouled.
Thompson then went to Brooks and began to annoy him. An officer approached behind the two guards and assessed a technical foul on everyone in the dispute. Brooks’ foul against Curry was increased to Flagrant 1 after a review.

Brooks drew the wrath of Warriors fans, and perhaps some neutral basketball fans, in Game 2 of this playoff series when he pushed Gary Peyton II out of the air in an attempt to secede. The game, considered a Flagrant 2 foul for unnecessary and excessive contact, broke Peyton’s elbow, which understandably infuriated the Warriors.
This play followed Brooks throughout the series. Every time he touches the ball while in San Francisco, the whole crowd at Chase Center pours boos on him. The negative response was something Thompson voted for just days before Game 6.

Brooks eventually expressed remorse for his actions against Peyton, but those words are probably hollow now with his last move on the court. Maybe if he really wanted to show that he was sorry, he just wouldn’t push Curry in the back and be restless when he came across it.
