It is expected to be a stormy Tuesday in Vancouver.
Environment Canada warns Vancouver subway residents to prepare for a spring storm.
In a special weather statement for the region, the federal agency warned that “strong, gusty winds” would arrive. In some areas, the storm will begin on Tuesday night as it hits Vancouver on Wednesday.
“An unusually strong low-pressure system will reach Vancouver Island on Tuesday night, bringing strong southeast winds and heavy rainfall to much of the south coast,” said Environment Canada.
It is not yet clear who will feel the weight of the storm.
“There is some uncertainty about the exact path of the low pressure center. This will affect which communities see the strongest winds, “said Environment Canada, noting that they will continue to update their warnings as more data is collected.
Although it is uncertain where the winds will blow, the rainiest weather is likely to miss Vancouver, as areas of higher terrain on the Sunshine Coast, Howe Sound and North Shore Mountains are warned of clouds falling up to 70 mm of rain during the storm.
Depending on the altitude, this can mean snow, thanks to the storm, which also brings low temperatures.
“The storm will be accompanied by freezing levels of 1,100 to 1,500 meters, which means that precipitation will fall like heavy snow in the mountains,” said Environment Canada.
Similar statements were issued on the island of Vancouver and all regions of the South Coast.
