The Chinook Center sexual assault investigation has led to allegations

A 28-year-old man faces four counts of sexual assault following an investigation into reported crimes at the CF Chinook Center.

According to police, a delivery driver entered a mall in southwest Calgary on the afternoon of May 15 and allegedly sexually assaulted a customer and two employees at the store where he was taking the order.

It is alleged that the delivery driver committed an indecent act while harassing staff and was asked to leave the store.

Later, the man approached a security guard at the mall and asked for directions to the park. It is alleged that the suspect sexually assaulted the guards in a secluded place. She ran away and called for reinforcements on her radio.

An additional security team arrived on the scene and the man was detained by police.

Salah Edin Laifa remains in custody before appearing in court on Tuesday.

Anyone who has witnessed the harassment at the mall is asked to contact the Calgary Police Line on 403-266-1234 or anonymous advice can be sent to Crime Stoppers.
