Peacock’s Queer as Folk looks ripped from the titles in the new trailer

Both the original British and American series Queer as Folk were holidays of queer culture, which also took the time to tell stories of violence and hatred that queer people face simply because of their existence. In its first trailer, the upcoming reboot of Peacock’s Queer as Folk by Stephen Dunn seems to be following in the footsteps of its predecessors as it gathers its visitors to the club for a night of pulling and debauchery at Babylon, a club in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The new Queer as Folk follows Brody (Devin Way), who recently dropped out of medical school, as he travels from Baltimore to Louisiana in search of something other than a devoted relationship. Although Brody is happy to reunite with old friends such as debutante Brenda (Kim Cattrall) and pop culture maniac Julian (Ryan O’Connell), he only feels it when he meets the new dragging man Mingus (Finn Argus). as if his life was about to change. While Brody and Mingus ‘thriving romance will play a key role in Queer as Folk’s plot, the trailer finds that what really triggers the series’ story is a shooting similar to Pulse in Babylon that leaves the local community shaken. While tragedy may be what unites Brody and Mingus, it also seems to be what inspired Queer as Folk’s larger cast to come together and strengthen the bonds that sustain their communities.

Queer As Folk also stars Jesse James Keitel, CG, Johnny Sybil, Ryan O’Connell and Juliet Lewis. The show will be released on Peacock on June 9, 2022.
