The former Meadows collaborator “covered new ground” at a recent exhibition

Cassidy Hutchinson was called to appear before the commission on Tuesday. This was her third session answering the panel’s questions.

A source familiar with Hutchinson’s testimony declined to offer many details about the meeting to avoid anticipating the commission’s findings from the January 6, 2021 investigation into the attack on the US Capitol.

But the source said Hutchinson spent time examining “new ground” during the session.

She also told the panel that members of the GOP Congress had discussed ways to overturn the election results, despite warnings from the White House office that the proposals were illegal.

“I know that people have sent information to (Meadows), which has indicated that there may be violence on the 6th,” she had previously told the commission. “But, again, I’m not sure if he – what he did with this information internally,” the commission said she testified.

According to the source, Hutchinson believes that she was forced to testify as a result of Meadows’ refusal to execute a summons from the commission. The committee has narrowed down what Meadows wants to ask, CNN reported, as it continues to insist on more documents and testimony from a key witness on Jan. 6 at the Trump White House.

A House committee sought Hutchinson last year when it called in a group of former officials with close ties to Trump. Hutchinson was a special assistant to the legislature and an adviser to Meadows. Hutchinson was also briefed on Meadows’ efforts to talk to others about investigating post-election fraud in the 2020 election.

According to text messages released by the commission on January 6, Donald Trump Jr., figures and MPs from Fox News unsuccessfully begged Meadows on January 6 to force President Donald Trump to stop the violence in the US Capitol. In December, the House of Representatives voted to suspend Meadows in contempt for refusing to appear before the panel on January 6, referring the matter to the Ministry of Justice.

The source said Hutchinson is likely to appear before the committee again, perhaps during the committee’s upcoming public hearings, which are expected this summer.
