A Kentucky woman has admitted to killing her newborn baby by throwing it off the railing on the second floor in 2018, according to local reports.
Amber Bowling pleaded guilty to killing her baby while appearing in court on Monday, LEX 18 reported.
Kentucky police said that the 21-year-old Bowling gave birth to a boy in December 2018, according to LEX 18. Bowling put the crying baby in a garbage bag and threw the bag on the railing of the second floor of a residential complex in Clay County. according to the station.
The baby was killed just hours after his mother gave birth, officials said at the time.
“This is heartbreaking,” Kentucky State Police Officer Lloyd Cochran told LEX 18 before his arrest. “It confuses your mind to think who could do this and why.
State police officials said in 2018, officers received a call about a newborn baby that was found dead in a garbage bag on the front porch of a home. The day after the opening, Bowling was charged with murder.
Citing Bowling’s arrest, the baby said he had a skull fracture, broken ribs and a brain hemorrhage.
Her sentence is on June 27. The recommended sentence is 40 years, announced LEX 18.
