Police have identified a suspect in a sexual assault investigation in Surrey

Police have identified a suspect in the alleged beating and entry and subsequent sexual assault that occurred in Surrey, British Columbia, over the weekend.

Surrey’s RCMP says they are looking for Matthew Christopher Hamm, 43, and want public help to find him.

Officers were called to block 12900 on 101A Avenue in Surrey at 6:40 a.m. PT on May 21 in response to a reported interruption and entry.

The woman, who lived in the home, told police she was sexually assaulted by a man she did not know. She was taken to hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Ham is five feet 10 inches tall, 170 pounds with black gray curly hair and brown eyes, according to the RCMP. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a blue shirt, jeans and dark sneakers.

Anyone who sees him should call 911, and police say not to approach him.
