One died after colliding with a logging truck in Cumberland

A man died after a serious truck crash in Cumberland on Tuesday afternoon.

RCMP Comox Valley said it reacted to a serious collision on Cumberland Road on Highway 19 ramp just before 3 p.m.

Spokesman for Comox Valley RCMP Const. Monica Teragni told CHEK News that the collision took a logging truck and another vehicle, but she did not have more information on how the accident happened.

First aid teams, including an air ambulance, responded. An investigator was later present at the scene shortly after 4:30 p.m. The victim was still in the vehicle when a second logging truck arrived to pick up logs from a crushed pickup truck.

A RCMP inspector of commercial vehicles and accident investigators were also on site.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area to allow first aid staff to deal with the situation.
