A man from Lake Kowichan dies after a logging truck lost its cargo in the Comox Valley

The loaded truck seems to have overturned before losing its load of logs on the parked pickup.

A man from Lake Kouichan is dead and a woman was injured after a logging truck lost its load while lubricating a pickup truck parked on the side of Comox Valley Road.

The Comox Valley RCMP is continuing its investigation after the logging truck lost its load at around 2:35 pm on Tuesday on the northern ramp for Highway 19 on Comox Valley Boulevard.

The loaded truck seems to have overturned before losing its load of logs on the parked pickup.

“The pickup truck seems to have stopped at the end of the road and the man was standing outside when the logging truck turned a corner and lost its load, causing the logs to fall on them,” Const said. Monica Teragni of the RCMP of the Comox Valley.

Ambulance crews pulled the woman out of the truck and took her to hospital.

The cause of the accident remains to be clarified. The BC Judicial Service is also investigating the death of the 43-year-old man.

The BC Highway Patrol in Campbell River is asking anyone who has seen the crash, observed vehicles before the crash or has a camera recording to contact them at 250-286-5646.
