Platinum Jubilee: Queen’s Weekend Events Revealed | United Kingdom news

The hours for the platinum anniversary weekend have been revealed, with the festivities remaining a little over a week.

Here is a brief description of what will happen at events and celebrations as the nation pays homage to the Queen’s 70s as sovereign.

Thursday, June 2

10 am – The queen’s birthday parade begins – Trooping the Color.

10.30 am – Members of the royal family leave Buckingham Palace for the parade. The military spectacle will be followed by a performance on the Queen’s balcony, hopefully, plus key members of the royal family, including children from Cambridge, watching a special spring.

9.25 pm – Members of the royal family arrive to observe the lighting of the main lighthouse in the palace – a 21-meter sculpture of a tree. More than 3,000 beacons are lit in the United Kingdom and the British Commonwealth.

Friday, June 3

11 a.m. – The royal family begins arriving at the Thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.

12.25 pm – Members of the royal family then attend a Guildhall reception hosted by the Lord Mayor.

Saturday, June 4

5.30 pm – The Epsom Derby race is taking place. The queen and her family are expected to head to the racetrack on Derby Day, where the monarch will be greeted by an honor guard of up to 40 of her past and present jockeys.

7.40 pm – Members of the royal family arrive at the platinum platinum party of the BBC at the Palace concert.

20: 00-22: 30 – The open-air concert in front of the palace, featuring stars including Queen + Adam Lambert, Alicia Keys, Duran Duran and Diana Ross, is broadcast live on BBC One.

Sunday, June 5

Street parties and large jubilee lunches are organized throughout the country.

14: 30-17: 00 – The Jubilee Competition is held in central London, with a 3-kilometer carnival procession involving thousands, including dolls and celebrities, and a tribute to the seven decades of the Queen’s reign. It will move down The Mall and past the palace.

The finale will be performed by Ed Sheeran and the national anthem will be sung in front of the Queen’s official residence.
