The BBC is due to signal the end of BBC4 as a television channel and announce up to 200 hours of content cuts as part of attempts to plug a £ 1.4 billion hole in its finances.
Tim Davy, the CEO, has to address employees today, revealing a savings initiative that has been a source of speculation in the corporation.
Speculation is mounting before the address and three sources said they expect Davey to announce that BBC4 will be moved online after 2027, when the existing royal charter of the corporation ends.
There are also fears that Davey will reduce the original programming by up to 200 hours over the next five years, which means more reruns on television.
