COCOA, Florida – The fire that broke out in Brevard County on Friday, forcing evacuations and destroying homes, is now 100% under control, officials said.
The fire burned in Sharps near Cocoa and hit 10 homes, with five of the 10 destroyed, according to firefighters.

A video from Sky 6 shows flames burning in the backyard and a large stream of smoke billowing over the neighborhood.
“I was just scared,” said Sheila Clemens, who lost her home.
A fire broke out in Brevard County on Friday, forcing the evacuation, officials said.
Don Walker, a spokesman for Brevard Emergency Management, said 50 homes had been evacuated in an area of four blocks.
Walker said homes in the area are mobile homes with lots of wood.
“Someone said, ‘Hey, your roof’s on fire,’ and the tree caught fire.” So I just took out everything I could, “said John Fenton after losing his home.

A firefighter was taken to hospital due to heat exhaustion.
The Red Cross says it has a team to help residents who may be displaced by the fire.
The crews said all the pets affected by the evacuation had been reunited with their owners.

Brevard County was included in the “high” category for fire danger on Friday, according to FFS. “High” is third on a scale of 1-5, with “low” number 1 and “extreme” number 5.
