The Blue Jays rally in the 9th inning to win the Angels

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – Alejandro Kirk scored in a mistake by right fielder Juan Lagares in the ninth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays teamed up for a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night.

Kirk took the lead from ninth with a single center against Raisel Iglesias (1-3) and advanced to second place with a sacrificial shot. Lourdes Guriel Jr. ordered a base kick in the right field to move Kirk to third and he scored when Lagares played the ball incorrectly.

Gurriel had three goals and was running, while Kirk had two goals for the Blue Jays, who won seven of 10.

Jared Walsh and Tyler Wade took care of the angels, who missed the injured Shohei Otani and Anthony Randon from the starting lineup. Wade was in third base in Randon’s absence.

Otani entered the ninth as a pinch, but was killed by Jordan Romano, who won his 15th save. Trevor Richards (2-0) won the victory.

Toronto starter Alec Manoah scored nine for the season, but conceded three runs with seven goals, including two home runs.

Chase Silset of Los Angeles made 4 1/3 innings and gave two runs with six hits. The angels fell three in a row.

Bo Tochet of Toronto took the lead in the second inning with a double on the main principle in the corner of the right field. He advanced to third in the main shot of Theoscar Hernandez and scored when Kirk entered a double play.

The Angels responded at the end of the inning when Andrew Velázquez’s shot down the left field line hit Luis Rengifo to equalize at 1. Rengifo got on board when he ordered a shot in the center and advanced to second place when Raimel Tapia threw it. between his legs for a mistake.

Walsh hit his 10th Homer in the third inning when he hit a change from Manoah that barely managed to jump over the center wall. Toronto took the lead with three consecutive shots, including an RBI double by Gurriel Jr. even on 2-all.

Los Angeles regained the lead in the home side’s half with a single shot by Wade from the right. This was Wade’s first Homer since September 26, 2020, when he was with the New York Yankees.

Toronto tied for Matt Chapman’s seventh RBI single.

THAT CLOSE “,” ALMOST

Tapia was in third base with one out in the fifth when George Springer hit a line that was a foul, but tapped Tapia in the leg. After being reviewed by the coaches, Tapia remained in the game before being drawn as a striker in the seventh inning.

TOO STRATEGIC?

Toronto had four outfielders on most of Trout’s bats, with second baseman Cavan Biggio moving to the right. Trout made them pay by doubling on the left field line in the fifth inning.

Left fielder Guriel threw the ball to second, but no one hid it, which allowed Trout to move to third in error. Trout seemed to give the Angels a 4-2 lead when he scored an outfielder, but the replay canceled the call and decided that Bichette’s throw to Kirk did it in time.
