NAPA, California (AP) – Paul Pelosi, the 82-year-old husband of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was arrested this weekend on suspicion of DUI in Northern California, police records said Sunday.
Paul Pelosi was detained late Saturday in Napa County, north of San Francisco, according to a report on online reservations by the sheriff’s office.
He could be charged, including drunk driving and driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher, the report said.
Pelosi’s bail was set at $ 5,000 for the two crimes, records show.
No other details were immediately available. California Highway Patrol Officer Andrew Barkley said more information would be released later Sunday.
Drew Hamill, a spokeswoman for Nancy Pelosi, told the Associated Press: “The speaker will not comment on this personal issue, which happened while she was on the East Coast.
A spokesman for the House of Representatives was in Providence, Rhode Island, on Sunday, where he delivered an offensive speech at Brown University.
TMZ reported Pelosi’s arrest for the first time.
Paul and Nancy Pelosi have been married since 1963.
