As of Wednesday, June 1, 2022, CREA has updated the features of the MLS® Home Price Index (HPI).
What is changing?
CREA changes the MLS® HPI methodology and uses data collected from the previous five-year period to be in line with current housing trends.
The new method helps to ensure that reference prices reflect those of the current housing stock. All reference price data will be recalculated based on the most recent set of attributes to create a clearer picture of the individual Canadian housing markets.
The result is an improved apple-to-apple comparison, applied evenly to all data.
