Progressive Conservative leader Doug Ford is running for a second term in a race that includes NDP leader Andrea Horvat, Liberal leader Stephen Del Duca and Green Party leader Mike Schreiner.
There are 124 seats to win the election, the parties will need 63 seats to form a majority government. The Progressive Conservatives won 76 seats in 2018, but now hold 67, as the legislature was dissolved before the May 3 campaign due to expulsions and resignations.
Ontario Election Live Updates: Voting Extended to 19 Rides
This may be the last election of Andrea Horvat as leader of the NDP. She is running for fourth place in the prime minister’s office after her party succeeded in 2018 to form the official opposition.
Meanwhile, the Liberals hope to recover from a devastating defeat in 2018, which reduced their caucus to just seven seats after spending more than a decade in government.
Leader Stephen Del Duca, who lost his seat in 2018, is in close competition in his own ride at Von Woodbridge, although he says he intends to remain the leader, regardless of the outcome.
The Green Party hopes to expand its group from a single seat won by leader Mike Schreiner in Guelph in 2018.
