Queen is retiring from the second anniversary event after a “tiring” day of celebrations

The queen will not attend the derby in Epsom tomorrow after a “very tiring” day of platinum anniversary celebrations, it became clear. Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the 96-year-old will miss the event on Saturday.

This is the second consecutive platinum anniversary event that the Queen had to cancel due to ongoing mobility issues. She missed the Thanksgiving service on Friday due to a busy day of celebrations. They include the appearance of a double balcony and spring.

The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly told a Guildhall reception that the Queen was enjoying the festivities. However, she apparently also found them tiring, which made her reduce her schedule.

The Queen had a “wonderful” platinum anniversary party on Thursday, but found the day “very tiring,” the Duchess of Cambridge said.

Gil Smallwood of Bolton spoke to Kate today after a Thanksgiving service at nearby St. Paul’s Cathedral. Ms. Smallwood said she asked Kate how she was queen.

She told the PA news agency: “She (Kate) said, ‘Yes, she was fine, it was just very tiring yesterday and she (the queen) had a wonderful, wonderful time.’

She said Kate had told her that Princes George, Louis and Princess Charlotte had also had a great time at Thursday’s celebrations, during which all three Cambridge children appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to pass.
