Alexander Volkov stopped Jairzinho Rosenstruick with an early technical knockout in the first round

Alexander Volkov extended a big straight hand, then another. He followed him with a massive left hook that sent Jairzinho Rozenstruik’s mouthpiece from his jaw to the Octagon’s sail.

Volkov continued to pump this long combination of shots until referee Herb Dean put an end to it. The finish with a technical knockout for 6 feet and 7 heavyweight Volkov came at 2:12 of the first round. It was Volkov’s fastest final in his six years in the UFC.

“I know he doesn’t have good protection [at that moment], back in the cage, “Volkov said in an interview after the fight.” I just see him go to the cage and just go ahead for a knockout. Good fight.”

Rosenstruyk protested a little against stopping with Dean. He was not released, although he was injured, and Dean seemed to believe that Rosenstruy had stopped defending himself intelligently.

Volkov said his wish was to “move forward in the division”. ESPN ranked Volkov No. 8 and Rosenstruk No. 10 in the world in the heavyweight division.

“Now I’m waiting for the next match,” Volkov said. – I’m ready for anything.

Rozenstruik intercepted a left hook on the counter at the beginning of the first round. However, Volkov pressed forward and struck these big blows when he saw Rosenstruk’s back to the cage.

Volkov (35-10) has won two of his last three battles. Most recently, the Russian fighter lost in the second round to Tom Aspinal in the UFC London in March. The 33-year-old Volkov has a 9-4 record in the UFC and is a former M-1 heavyweight champion.

Rosenstruyk (12-4) lost two in a row and four of their last six. The Suriname fighter did not win after a technical knockout over Augusto Sakai in June 2021. The 34-year-old Rosenstruik has a 6-4 record in the UFC.
