BRONKS, New York (WABC) – There was mass hysteria at two malls in New York on Saturday afternoon.
Someone fired firecrackers at the dining area of the Bay Plaza Mall at about 1:30 p.m. Then the same thing happened less than an hour later at the Kings Plaza in Brooklyn.
Kings Plaza Mall was evacuated around 2:15 pm after the fireworks exploded.
A witness who was at Primark said he heard about three shots and said they sounded like shots. She says she grabbed her two children and ran down the stairs.
“I was shopping for my children and I heard gunshots. I ran down the stairs, ran down quickly. It was very scary, “said the witness, who did not want to be identified.
Since then, the mall has reopened and buyers have been released back into a concrete entrance.
No arrests have been made.
There are no reports of casualties in either incident.
Just last weekend, there was panic at the Barclays Center when fans watching a boxing match ran to hide in fear of an active shooter. In this case, police say an excited fan kicked or threw a trash can – causing something that sounded like shots.
