Causes and consequences of stress

Stress is a disease of a lifetime. No living thing can claim to be stress-free; some may have a lot of it, others manage to tame it all the time and therefore have a lower level of stress. “We poison our lives with the fear of burglary and shipwreck, and, ask anyone, the house is never looted and the ship never falls. (Jean Anuel). A lot of stress is created and caused by itself.

There is stress that is self-induced and there is stress due to external factors. Both are equally deadly, but I think the stress caused by the “internal mental structure” is more deadly. If the prevailing external factors give themselves a more stressful life, the individual always has a chance to move away from these circumstances. No one can ignore the stress that arises as a result of his inner rebellion.

Stress causes anxiety. Most of us are stressed about performance; to meet the expectations of others, both from colleagues and family members. We continue to assess whether we can accept the challenge. We wonder if I have the skills, talent and means to achieve the set goals. Through internal conversations with ourselves, we achieve an increased level of stress, which causes anxiety.

The dictionary says that stress is the body’s reaction to a threat, while anxiety is the body’s reaction to stress.

Anxiety, on the other hand, is determined by constant and excessive worries that do not go away even when there is no stressor. The United States Psychological Association defines anxiety as “an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, anxious thoughts, and physical changes such as high blood pressure.” Anxiety is a disease of the soul.

Stress can come and go, anxiety is more restraining and constant, because by its nature, anxiety is not necessarily a quick or recognizable trigger. Stress and anxiety cannot be erased from the life of any individual —- they acquire the status of a problem or medical condition when emotion prevails. Stress can be a lifelong disease if left unchecked.

Stress can be both positive and negative. The flow of adrenaline provides an extremely simple performance. The stress of disciplining for quality performance will fall into the realm of positive stress. Positive stress is unlikely to lead to ulcers; instead it portends a state of general happiness. Conversely, negative stress raises blood pressure, speeds up the heart rate and reduces a person’s high level of anxiety, which is invariably harmful to health. When I look at my own career, I find that some of my best moments of performance were when I was in a state of subdued stress. Anxiety (stress) for performance has the potential to release positive energy, which allows to achieve the desired results.

Stress stimulates action. It has an impact on creativity. For those who perform only when caused by a stressful environment, it is an elixir; source of life. However, this attitude has its limitations. In the short term, that is, in the younger years of life, it can be a vitamin for a happy life, but in middle age onwards it can become a poisonous beginning for a secure future of heart problems.

Leaders / managers who suffer from stress and anxiety make sure that they continue to transfer enough doses every day to their colleagues through strange behavioral reactions. At the first sign of demonstrating an opinion that either provokes or denies their view, they will lose their shirt in public and create an unhealthy scene that will worsen and obscure the judgment of their reports and in turn make the whole environment toxic. Of course, there are many people in the corporate and business world who shamelessly subscribe to the popular dialogue from the Indian film “tension lene ka nahi, ene ka” (in free translation, do not take the stress, but pass it on to others). Those who practice this with full knowledge of themselves that it is a despised managerial attitude are essentially sadists who take pleasure in hurting others.

Supervisors who choose to keep very short deadlines for the task, completely ignoring determining how many hours will be needed to achieve the goals, are the ones who contribute to maintaining a high level of environmental stress. These types are labeled, albeit incorrectly, as masters of difficult tasks; even they are corporate hooligans, lacking the knowledge and skills to know how long it takes to produce quality work. A true master of difficult tasks is one who assigns work / tasks, including burdens, to his teammates and regularly monitors them, with full assistance through direct participation in the task and making the environment favorable.

These are the motivational engines, not the stressors. Leaders and managers may be proponents of excellence, but they should not be corporate tyrants or villains who misbehave, intentionally or unknowingly, to assist pharmaceutical companies in selling antidepressants or nerve-calming drugs.

Those who experience stress turn out to be irritable, angry, tired, tired, have muscle cramps, have difficulty falling asleep and in more severe cases have digestive problems.

I am only connected to the financial industry and in its folds there are many features that are less stressful, but there are others, such as the treasury, that cause high levels of stress. At a very young age I felt that I was in the treasury, a very high level of acidity. The stress of maintaining a liquid and stock market position was enormous. The heartburn was a disturbing and disturbing medical condition.

Some managers have anxiety not as a temporary condition, but rather as a trait. The condition can change with focus and avoidance training; while the trait is part of the personality. There are some leaders and supervisors who like to create conditions for panic over the smallest things; for team members, this is done by setting timelines for the task. Some do so by punishing time schedules, they can get to the point of starting work (for personal reasons being affected by insomnia) in the crack of dawn — they like to live a cock life and keep working (pretend se!) until the wee hours of the morning, after making sure that the owls had retired to sleep. I have seen such managers.

In this setting, productivity declines; something that is wrong with the person who creates stress and anxiety in the work environment. Failure is fear that causes stress and leads to anxiety. Thomas Jefferson had said that we were in great pain with the evils that never happened.

During stressful times / times it is best to leave the desk and walk around the office. If a person lives in a city that has favorable weather conditions, it is even better to take a walk outside the office. Breathing exercises also help reduce stress: watching trees and plants too. Watching an aquarium is a soothing experience. If your manager is a stress generator, give him an aquarium for his cabin; or place a few pots of fresh green plants or flowers. It will certainly have a magical effect on behavior. This is a time-tested and personally proven formula.
