Goldsboro, North Carolina – Wayne County authorities are looking for a man after a man was shot and wounded in a hospital in Goldsboro.
The Wayne County Sheriff said the Wayne Memorial Hospital was closed on Sunday night after it was initially said to be an active shooting situation.
Officials at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said a call was received shortly before 8:20 p.m. after a shooting at the hospital.
The hospital was locked until 9:10 p.m.
Originally reported as an active shooter, authorities said the shooting was a domestic situation and the shooter went to the hospital with the intention of shooting a specific person.
A woman who was not an employee but was carrying scrubs was shot on the 6th floor and suffered a leg injury that authorities say is not considered life-threatening.
The shooter then left the building.
Wayne County MPs, in addition to the Goldsboro Police Department and the State Road Patrol, are currently searching for the shooter. The sheriff’s office said it believed he was still within the city limits.
The sheriff’s office said they knew the shooter’s identity and were working to detain them.
The connection between the shot and the shooter is not yet known,
