Derby County supporters are divided over speculation that former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has offered to join a joint venture with future Rams owner Chris Kirchner to take over the club.
Reports over the weekend claimed that Ashley’s offer of “last breath” was “politely rejected” by Kirchner. The British retailer has been stubbornly linked to interest in the club since taking office last year.
And some Rams fans still see it as a preferred option over Kirchner. Here is a selection of reactions for the DerbyshireLive comment section on these reports.

ramslad : Gutting. Ashley would be the best owner.
Ramsfan: CK may have just made the biggest mistake of not allowing a joint venture with MA, he has knowledge of both management and team recovery finances, and I have not yet seen any confirmation of an agreement. with MM in respect of the stadium that CK bought he or agreed lease with MM its completion is based on conditions with EFL and the stadium was one of them, I hope that now the bank holes are over completion may be inevitably inevitable
Jim J. : Well, this is a clear and obvious mistake, joint ownership with MA and CK would be ideal, as cash flow would not be a problem.
I quarrel : Well done to CK.
aron: That would be ideal. Shame.
jarrad : Oh, big mistake CK, huge! huge!
subsoil : I am surprised by everyone’s thumbs down from this proposal. I think MA would bring some stability in an uncertain situation. CK is still largely an unknown player in the football world and it would be reassuring to have an MA around to pick up the pieces if CK doesn’t handle the task. I am also sure that MA will resolve the situation with Pride Park in one day.
noelt : I have a feeling that they will quarrel with each other at some point in the future – it may not be right, but we just don’t need it if it happens and it’s best not to take risks, because I think we all have enough potential problems and now we need to focus on getting back to where we belong.
derby12 : Probably due to delayed completion.
