Ontario reported 419 hospitalizations and three other deaths related to COVID-19 on Sunday.
However, not all hospitals report data on weekends, so the number of hospitalized patients is probably much higher.
Reported hospitalizations on Sunday fell from 671 on Saturday to 643 just a week ago.
According to the Ontario Department of Health, 41% of those hospitalized were admitted specifically for the virus, while the rest were admitted for other reasons and then tested positive.
Of the sick, 111 needed intensive care, up from 107 on Saturday, but less than 145 at the time last week. Fifty patients need the help of ventilators to breathe.
Approximately 74% of people in the intensive care unit were admitted for the virus, while the rest were admitted for other reasons and then tested positive.
Meanwhile, the province reported at least 710 new cases of COVID-19 every Sunday, with 6,998 tests completed in the last 24 hours. However, due to the limitations of the tests, officials say the actual number of daily new cases is likely to be much higher than reported.
The percentage of positive tests for the whole province is 7.1 percent.
New deaths reported on Sunday increased the number of pandemic victims in the province to 13,288.
