“It’s a mystery to us”: father’s concern over missing 16-year-old son after “going out with friends” on Saturday

Concerns are growing about a teenager from Stockport who has not been seen since visiting friends over the weekend. Oscar Johnson was having lunch with his father Paul Johnson on Saturday (June 4th) at noon before going to see his friends in Oferton.

Paul says his 16-year-old son told him he was not ready to return home at 10pm on Saturday night and that Oscar has not kept in touch with him since. Romilla’s worried father is now urging anyone who knows where his son is to come forward.

“It’s completely out of character,” Paul told Manchester evening news . “I spoke to him on Saturday night and he was not ready to go home, it was around 10 pm.

“I said it was fine, I will talk to him around 11 pm and I will pick him up then. This is the last I heard about him. This is an absolute mystery to us.

“It simply came to our notice then. His phone is turned off, no messages have been read on social networks. We called him constantly every few minutes, day and night.

Paul says his son Oscar, who began his apprenticeship after leaving school, was in a good mood earlier in the day when he disappeared. He says Oscar may think he’s in trouble for not coming home on Saturday night, but Paul can’t wait to hear from his son as soon as possible.

Oscar is 6 feet 2 inches tall, lean physique and is believed to have been wearing a gray suit and black jacket before disappearing. He usually lives in Oferton with his mother, but at that time he was staying with his father in Romili.

Paul added: “He may be a bit of a grumpy teenager, but he’s happy, he’s happy with his job, he really likes the guys he works with. We were having lunch on Saturday and he was laughing and looking forward to his birthday next month, he was just happy.

“His mother was out of her mind on Saturday night, I was just reassuring her. I said maybe he just fell asleep and we’ll pick him up in the morning, he won’t do that.

“I kept going back to her house at night to see if he had returned, but there was no sign of him. I came back the next morning and as the hours and days passed, I called the police. “

Greater Manchester police have confirmed they received a report of Oscar’s disappearance on Sunday. Any information about his whereabouts can be passed to GMP online or by calling 101 using incident number 1723 of June 5, 2022.
