Today is the last day to bid for a sign from the iconic landmark of St. John.
The sign, which has adorned Fitz’s cold beer on Topsail Road in St. John’s for decades, is being auctioned off with the proceeds going to a cancer treatment foundation.
John Otis Fitzpatrick died last year at the age of 66. His daughter Angie says Fitz’s was so popular because of her father’s special relationship with his clients.
“It wasn’t just about the beer,” Angie says, “it was about the people who worked there.”
Although it was difficult to separate, Angie said it would be a good cause and hoped the successful participant would appreciate it.
The bidding ends tonight.
