Police have treated the explosion of a car linked to wealthy businessman Alan Macrae to a fire at his home garden bar last year.
This comes after the latest in a long list of attacks that sparked a fire in Botwell, Lanarkshire, happened last Friday when a BMW 420 coupe was set on fire on the driveway of a home in Pailis Crescent.
Officials have now confirmed that the attack on the directional motorcycle is being linked to a fire in May 2021 that destroyed a £ 55,000 outdoor bar in the Macrae family home just a mile away.
Officials are now appealing for footage from the DVR from anyone who may have witnessed the car attack on Friday.

Detective Officer Graham Easton said: “No one was injured, but it was an extremely dangerous act and it is vital that we trace the person in charge.
“I urge anyone who has seen what happened or who has any information about the fire to contact the police. I would also urge anyone who has video surveillance or a tape recorder in the area at the time to contact us.
The fires are among a catalog of similar incidents that have erupted in Botwell in the past 18 months, with homes, restaurants and cars targeted by thugs.
Alan Macrae is well known in the village and runs the successful Avia sign business in Coutbridge.
He sponsored the Rangers and is friends with several of the club’s players.
After the incident last year, he speculated that he could have been the target because he was a Rangers fan.

The furious Macrae went on social media after the crime, saying: “To the scum who burned down my bar last night, I look forward to meeting you when we catch you, and we will catch you.
