Black Adam’s first trailer brings thunder and rage

After some long delays, director Jaume Cole-Serra’s Black Adam starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson finally hits theaters this fall, and a new trailer has just come out featuring the film’s title antihero when it first comes to power in the modern age.

The first trailer for Black Adam features Tet-Adam (Johnson), a man born into slavery in the fictional country of Kandak for some time in the distant past. Although Tet-Adam dies at the hands of his enslavers, he is brought back to life by magical lightning, seemingly summoned by his son shortly before the boy dies from the tension of the ritual. The death of Tet-Adam’s son in the past first radicalized him and encouraged him to use his newfound powers to seek justice so brutal that people around him were forced to lock him up.

However, Black Adam will not be just a story about Adam himself, and the trailer irritates how a version of the Justice Society of America, consisting of Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Doctor of Fate ( Pierce Brosnan) will rise to stop him.

Black Adam thunders in theaters on October 21.
