Exeter residents have advised to close the windows after the truck fire closed the road

Residents of the Alfington area of ​​Exeter have been advised to close their windows due to a truck fire. The busy A377 Alfington is currently closed as a result of the accident.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that an articulated truck was on fire and that six vehicles had been called to the A377 roundabout. The air ladder has already been requested. Two breathing apparatus, jets and a “fog spike” are used.

And in a Twitter update, a DSFRS spokesman advised residents in the area to close their windows to stay out of the smoke and close their windows. A spokesman wrote: “We are currently working on a large vehicle fire right next to the Alfington roundabout (A30 / A377) in Exeter.

A Devon and Somerset Fire spokesman said: “We are currently dealing with a large vehicle fire right next to the Alfington roundabout. This is a truck with a trailer full of electrical waste. The cab is separated from the trailer. There is smoke and we advise locals to stay away from smoke and close their windows.

“The smoke is not currently affecting the A30, but there is heavy traffic due to the accident. Police and highways are on site to support traffic.

“We have crews from Danes Castle, Middlemoor and Newton Abbott, along with a water bowser from Danes Castle and an aircraft from the Danes.
