Lake Roadford: Everything we know on Saturday

A large-scale search that uncovered the bodies of two people at Lake Roadford shook the area this week. The lake, near Okehampton, was at the center of the hunt after reports of a boat capsizing with two disabled sailors missing Wednesday (June 8th).

A response from several agencies followed, with police working with specialized equipment and resources in and over water, on land and by drones. This continued on Thursday, when two bodies were found.

The families of two people, who are unknown after the overturning of the boat, were informed about the incident. Specially trained officers are supporting them during this time, as police say official identification is yet to take place.

Two people were pulled out of the water and taken to Derifd Hospital for treatment. One person was then discharged and one person remained in hospital in critical condition.

Two other people were pulled out of the water and checked by ambulances before being discharged on the spot. Other boats were not involved in the incident.
