To no one’s surprise, but to the relief of almost everyone, the global hit Netflix Squid Game will return for another season. We have known this for some time. Details of Young-hee’s whereabouts were scarce, but today Netflix was good enough to bolster the fearsome doll and annoy next season by doing the least. The streamer missed what is a visual poster advertising the new season. After all, something is better than nothing.

Okay, not much there. However, in the spirit of preparing for a new round of these amazing Squid Games, director Hwang Dong-hyuk released a statement:

It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever.

As a screenwriter, director and producer of “Squid Game”, a huge cry to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show.

And now Gi-hun is back.

The frontman is back.

Season 2 is coming.

The man in the ddakji suit may return.

You will also meet Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su.

Join us once again for a whole new round.

Back in January, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos warned that “the Squid Game universe has just begun” and that “absolutely” will have a second season. Although Netflix has since doubled special transphobic comedies and threatened an ad-supported version of the service.

However, Netflix’s brain trust didn’t have to create an entire algorithm to decide on a second season. Most viewers spent more than 1.54 billion hours streaming Squid Game in the first 28 days. Netflix told us that’s a lot, which reported the numbers, so yes. That’s at least enough to make the Korean show the most successful show ever on Netflix. The second largest? You guessed it, real Rob.
