Teesside Airshow: SkyLive issues statement of recovery for chaos

The co-organizers of the Teesside Airshow issued a statement on the refund for those who did not arrive at the airport due to difficult traffic.

Chris Petty and Steve Davis, co-organizers of Sky Live Air, said: “We apologize to anyone who has been affected by the delay in arriving at yesterday’s air show.

“We hired a professional traffic management company, held numerous meetings over many months with the boards of Stockton and Darlington, the Security Advisory Group and the police. The current traffic management plan was fully signed by all.

“It is clear that something went wrong yesterday and we will investigate fully to make sure this does not happen again. We are looking for a way to return the money to those who did not attend the show due to the delays. ”

The mayor of Tees Valley, Ben Hohen, appeared on BBC Look North last night and said: its headaches and some of the traffic was hard to deal with, but it seems that now people are getting into the air show itself, everyone is having a good time and we hope we can do that again in the future and we can improve it for next year too.

The Sunderland Air Show obviously didn’t take place this year, and I think we’re, until Blackpool, the only air show in the North of England this year, so obviously a lot of enthusiasts come from far and wide, which is great for discovering what Teesside is. and attracting people to the local area and that comes with its own set of challenges, so there will be a lot to learn next year, but I actually think people seem to be having a good time. ”

Chris Petty also appeared in the Look North report. He said: “We have heard that there has been an accident on the A66 and this is something we cannot include in our plan. We sent a message within weeks before we said take the time to get here. This is a sold-out event. Obviously there will be a lot of people traveling. Unfortunately, this is one of them, and if we could change things and bring everyone together, we would do it. ”

More to come.
