A man stabbed in the face in a “targeted attack” remains in hospital

A man who was stabbed in the face and legs remains in hospital, according to Merseyside police.

Officials say the victim was seriously injured in the attack, which occurred around 1.15am on Tuesday, June 14, at a number of Finch Lane stores in Knotty Ash. He was treated for his injuries in hospital and is now described as stable.

Detectives say the man was stabbed near a number of shops before fleeing to a nearby Altfinch house. Neighbors in the area said that when they woke up in the morning, the cars on the road were covered in blood and there was a “bloody trail” on the floor.

An investigation into the incident has been launched and officers are conducting video surveillance, witnesses and forensic scientists. At this point, detectives believe the stabbing was a “targeted attack.”

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “We are at an extremely early stage in the investigation of an incident this morning in which a person was injured, and we are working to find the person responsible and bring him to justice. If you were in the Western Derby area in the early hours of this morning and noticed something or someone suspicious, then please let us know.

“Similarly, if you have driven in the area and have footage from the dashboard, please review it and go ahead if you see anything. This would be a shocking incident for anyone who could witness, but I would like to assure people that we believe that it was an isolated and targeted attack and that there is no greater threat to the community.

“Knife crimes have no place in Merseyside, and we rely on members of the public to come out with information about such incidents to keep our communities safer. Please tell us what you know and we will take action. Your information can be vital to tracking those responsible and removing them from our streets. ”
