The Easton man is in jail for raping a teenage girl

A 45-year-old man has been in prison for almost seven years after raping a student in Bristol. Mohsen Gabe of Stapleton Road in Easton was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison in Bristol Court on Friday (June 10th) after being found guilty of raping a woman, then 19, in 2019.

The court heard Gaby go with her to the victim’s home, follow her to her bedroom and rape her. The victim, who could not be named for legal reasons, noticed Gabe walking up to her, and when she came home and he followed her inside, she was “frozen in fear” and “out of control.”

The victim shared her experience in the hope that it would encourage other victims of sexual violence and rape to come out. Avon and Somerset police quoted part of her victim’s statement, which was read in court.

She said: “The dreams I had, where I felt I could do anything, have now been replaced by an embodiment of shame, disgust and self-hatred. I was numb, frozen in time as the world passed me.

“I bet my life for three years to get justice. I am no longer the same person I used to be. I had to fight for my life, reshape it and restore what I am from the beginning. “

She concluded her statement with the words: “I hope no one will go through what I am going through, because I know I am lucky to be alive today.”

The victim waited four days before reporting the rape to police because “she was not sure anyone would believe her,” police said. But after stepping forward, police were able to identify Gheibi and he was arrested six days later.

Investigating Officer Detective Katrina Collier said: “Gabe took advantage of a vulnerable 19-year-old woman late at night and showed no remorse for her actions. His actions have obviously devastated the victim’s last three years of life, and we hope that this sentence gives her the justice she rightly deserves.

“She showed great strength and courage by coming out and talking about the crime and the impact it has had on her life since that night.

“It is incredibly difficult for victims of rape and sexual violence to go out and report, but we call on everyone who has been subjected to these horrific crimes to speak up, we will trust you and support you throughout the process.
