Heartbreaking: Missing 3-Year-Old Boy Who Caused Mass Search Found Dead in Lowell Pond
Lowell, Massachusetts – Calling it a nightmare, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan confirmed late Wednesday afternoon that the body of a Lowell boy who went missing on Tuesday was found dead in a pond about 650 feet from the site. where he was last seen.
Ryan said there were no signs of “external trauma.”
Harry Kkonde, 3, was wearing the clothes he was last seen wearing when he disappeared from his babysitter’s home on Frede Lane.
“It’s every parent’s worst nightmare,” Ryan said. “Anyone who has had a small child is afraid that this small child will leave.”
Kkonde’s disappearance sparked a massive search in Lowell.
Search teams found Kkonde’s body in about five feet of water in a pond near the Raleigh farm on Varnum Avenue, more than 24 hours after his disappearance. The farm is just a short walk from Freda Lane.
“She didn’t cry much, but it was a shock. It was a shock. I would never have thought they would find this child in my pond, “said Roland Perron, one of the owners of Rollie’s Farm.
Divers searched the lake around 11 a.m. Tuesday, but nothing was found.
“My heart is broken, I have grandchildren. We were both looking for this little child yesterday, and when you came back today, we really didn’t think he would be in this pond. Robin Chapman, another owner of the tree farm, said. “Last night we sat on the lake and said, Lord, let’s hope they find him tonight,” Chapman continued.
Ryan said investigators did not know where the little boy had gone when he first left his nanny’s home.
A neighbor last saw the boy at 9:15 a.m. The neighbor saw the boy outside and then noticed he was gone.
Kkonde was reported missing by his babysitter around 9:30 a.m. in the town of Pautkville, according to Lowell police.
Ryan said they have no information on the path the boy may have taken while walking.
Today the pond was searched again by state police divers, who found it around 1:10 p.m.
