The 2022 US Open is officially taking place in Brooklyn, Massachusetts, with a number of star bands heading to The Country Club on Thursday. The Northern Irishman took the lead in the first round of the Southern Hills after shooting 5-under 65 last month, and he started the US Open early in the morning with Hideki Matsuyama and Xander Schaufele. This trio is one of the few notable bands in the morning at The Country Club. Several other favorites who are part of the morning wave include Colin Morikawa, John Ram, Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantley and Will Zalatoris.
These players will be given the luxury of being off the golf course when the polarizing figures play Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson. Johnson, the 2016 U.S. Open champion, will start at 1:36 p.m. with Web Simpson and Matt Fitzpatrick, the latter of whom won the 2013 U.S. Amateur Tournament at The Country Club. Meanwhile, Mickelson, a six-time runner-up in the US Open, will play with fellow great champions Louis Osthuisen and Shane Lowry at 1:47 p.m.
Given that The Country Club will host the US Open for the first time since 1988, there will probably be a lot of gadgets to make during the first 18 holes of the competition.
