Capcom is officially making a sequel to Dragon’s Dogma, a favorite but moderately successful action role-playing game released in 2012. The sequel, Dragon’s Dogma 2, was confirmed by Capcom veteran and Dragon’s Dogma director Hideaki Itsuno during the 10th anniversary of live broadcast on thursday.
Itsuno was joined by Dragon’s Dogma art director Daigo Ikeno and environment manager Kenichi Suzuki, who are also working on the sequel during the stream.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is being developed using Capcom’s internal RE Engine, the technology that powers the latest remakes of Resident Evil, Devil May Cry 5 and Street Fighter 6 for next year. In addition, Itsuno had nothing to share about Dragon’s Dogma 2, it is also in full production and he hopes it will be worth the decade-long wait. Release date and platforms for the sequel have not been announced.
The original Dragon’s Dogma has been released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In our review of the fantasy action RPG, we said that Dragon’s Dogma “covers unusual design solutions that deliver compelling results, even when you don’t have to work for a better gaming experience.” “Capcom released Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, an extension / reissue of the original, in 2013.
