Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin has backed Calvin Ramsey to thrive in the midst of Liverpool’s top-tier.

The Champions League finalists have agreed to pay £ 4.5 million – plus another £ 3.5 million in potential bonuses – to hire the 18-year-old right-back on Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Ramsey has yet to complete a medical examination and put the finishing touches on Anfield’s five-year contract. But if these details are completed without any problems, Goodwin believes that Liverpool will be in a happy position to get a player with huge potential.

Ramsey has yet to complete medical and personal terms on a five-year deal

“The two clubs have agreed on a fee, but there are a few things that need to happen behind the scenes,” Goodwin said.

“Calvin must undergo a medical examination and agree to personal conditions. This is a very exciting opportunity for him and his family.

“The academy here in Aberdeen deserves great credit for Calvin’s development. “Liverpool are very lucky if the deal is made because they get a lot of exciting talent that won the Young Player of the Year award.

Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin believes Ramsey will step up in Liverpool

“We had high hopes for him, and there is no doubt that he will be strengthened in Liverpool.”

“They have another Scottish player in Andy Robertson, who is climbing on the left flank,” continued the boss of Dons, whose country will open the new season of the Premiership with a trip to Celtic Park on July 31.

“With Trent Alexander-Arnold on the other side, they have two very offensive full-backs. That will bring Calvin. His statistics in the first half of the season were right there with the best full-backs in the world. ‘
