Power outage Ottawa: Thousands in Ottawa, eastern Ontario without electricity

Power has been restored to most homes and businesses in Nepian and eastern Ontario after a major power outage on Saturday afternoon.

Hydro Ottawa said 27,000 customers were left without electricity at 12:45 p.m. in an area bordering 416 in the west, the Ottawa River in the north, West Hunt Club Road in the south and Merivale Road in the west.

The company said the loss of supplies from the provincial network was the reason for the outage.

“We are working with Hydro One to ensure that power is restored as quickly and safely as possible,” Hydro Ottawa tweeted, adding that crews were making an emergency switch to restore power while waiting for the province’s power to be restored. return.

Power was restored to most customers by 5 pm, according to the Hydro Ottawa Interruption Card. Hydro Ottawa said some customers may be without electricity at the western end until later tonight.
