After reportedly losing millions of orders for iPhone 14 OLED screens due to unauthorized manufacturing changes, BOE is said to be introducing new samples from Apple.

It was first reported that BOE had production problems in February 2022, after which it was revealed that it had almost stopped production. In the end, it was said that this was due to the fact that Apple caught BOE changing the design of the screen.

In particular, BOE is said to have “extended the bandwidth of the thin-film transistor” used in its iPhone 13 order panels. It’s not clear why this was done without Apple’s knowledge, but that the design has changed, it seems to mean that BOE will lose millions of orders.

However, according to The Elec, this week Apple will begin evaluating samples of BOE’s iPhone 14 OLED. Unspecified sources say BOE hopes to receive a solution from Apple within a month.

If Apple decides to continue with BOE, the manufacturer is expected to begin mass production for some time in July and August. Elec says its panels are for the base iPhone 14, not the Pro models.

Earlier, The Elec turned out to have decent sources of information in Apple’s supply chain. However, the subsequent results of concrete conclusions are worse.
