A 31-year-old man was shot dead early Monday morning on East Brady Street, Milwaukee police said.
Police responded at about 2:15 a.m. in Casablanca, a bar and restaurant at 728 E. Brady St., for a signal to fire, according to call logs.
It is not immediately clear whether the shooting took place inside or outside the restaurant.
Police said the shooting was the result of a dispute. They detained a 34-year-old man.
Brady Street’s bars, restaurants and nightlife are a staple in the eastern part of the city.

Milwaukee saw four murders on Friday, as well as fatal bumping and running of a pedestrian.
The other victims of the murder are:
- A 23-year-old man from Milwaukee was fatally shot around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday at Block 1600 on North 34th Street
- Two men, aged 18 and 20, were killed in a double shooting at around 9:15 p.m. on Friday at block 2800 on North 37th Street
- A 38-year-old man from Milwaukee was fatally shot around 6:30 a.m. Friday at Block 3600 on West Brown Street
A woman in her late 40s or early 50s was fatally hit by a vehicle around 3:45 a.m. Monday on North 28th Street and West Atkinson Avenue, police said.
Police did not identify the woman as of Monday morning. They also did not identify the driver who fled the scene.
They released a description of the vehicle involved: a black Audi A4 2010 or 2011 sedan. The passenger’s mirror will be missing and the right front bumper will be damaged, police said.

As of Friday, Milwaukee homicides have risen 25 percent this year from last year, when the city broke its homicide record for the second year in a row. By Friday, the city had registered 96 murders. During the same period in 2021, the city registered 77 murders.
