Greytens urges supporters to order their “RINO hunting permit” in a video with a heavy weapon

Missouri Senate nominee Eric Grittens (right) faces criticism after releasing a new video urging his supporters to go “hunting for RINO”.

The Missouri Republican shared a 38-second video on Twitter, highlighting his past as a naval seal and being seen breaking into a house as he went on what he called a “RINO hunt.”

“RINO feeds on corruption and is marked by streaks of cowardice. … There is no restriction on packaging, there is no restriction on marking and it does not expire until we save our country, “he said in the video.

Greytens, who is seen holding a long rifle during the video, is surrounded by men in camouflage uniforms from the US military. He also called on his supporters to join the “MAGA crew” and obtain a “RINO hunting permit” after rushing into an empty house while his crew threw a lightning grenade.

He shared the video on Monday, which read: “We are fed up with Republicans only by name, who surrender to Joe Biden and the radical left.”

Greytens, who calls himself a conservative and an “outsider,” faced quick revenge on social media for hinting at hunting people in the video.

Representative Ruben Galego (D-Ariz.) Took to Twitter to condemn the video and said that “this type of fa[s]cist messages should stop. It only encourages political violence. “

Representative Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) also said on Twitter that “this is sociopathic.” He added that Graytens “will kill someone.”

Asked for comment by The Hill, the press center of the Greitens campaign said: “If someone does not understand the metaphor, he is either lying or dumb.”

The former Missouri governor, who was forced to resign in 2018 after allegations of campaign finance violations and sexual assault on a woman he met, is running for the vacancy left after the senator’s impending retirement. from the Republican Party Roy Blunt (Missouri). .

Greytens is also accused of abusing his ex-wife Sheena Greytens, who said he became physically abusive with her and her children.

She shared embarrassing details, including that Eric Greitens bought a gun, hid it from his family and threatened to kill himself if his then-wife did not provide “concrete public political support” before his resignation.

Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) Previously said Greitens should drop out of the Missouri race after allegations of abuse came to light. “If you hit a woman or a child, you’re handcuffed, not in the United States Senate,” Hawley tweeted. “It’s time for Eric Grittens to leave this race.”

The video comes when a bipartisan group of 20 senators – 10 Republicans and 10 Democrats – announced an agreement on nine principles for potential measures to combat gun violence, including funding for school mental health and safety programs and reviews of juvenile documents for buyers of weapon under the age of 21.
