Elon Musk’s son is filing for gender reassignment, name to end the relationship

The child of billionaire Elon Musk completely changes his identity to distance himself from his father.

Xavier Alexander Musk, who has a twin named Griffin, turned 18 in April. Almost immediately after her birthday, Xavier petitioned the court to change her name as she accepted her new identity as Vivian.

The Blast received the documents from the California Supreme Court in Los Angeles County at the time of their release, but did not release the documents immediately to give Vivian time to come out on her own. However, the documents began to make their way through Twitter on Saturday night, just before Father’s Day. Her hearing is scheduled for this Friday.

Xavier Alexander Musk wants to change his name to Vivian Jenna Wilson. She also asked the California Supreme Court in Los Angeles County to recognize her gender as female. The petition was filed on Monday, April 18.

Vivian pointed out the reason for the name change, not wanting to contact her biological father. The document reads: “Gender identity and the fact that I no longer live and do not want to be connected to my biological father in any way, form or form.

Elon Musk married Canadian writer Justin Wilson in January 2000. In 2002, they welcomed their Nevada son, Alexander Musk. Unfortunately, Nevada died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS, at just ten weeks.

Musk and Wilson turned to IVF, and in April 2004, Wilson gave birth to twin sons, Griffin and Xavier. They both just turned 18 in April.

The former couple also used IVF to meet their triplets two years later. Their names were Kai, Saxon and Damian. All three boys are now 16. Two years later, in 2008, the couple filed for divorce. They still share custody of their five children.

However, Vivian says part of the reason she wants to change her name is to distance herself from her biological father, who has been accused of transphobic views for the past few years.

CNBC previously called on Elon Musk to apologize for his transphobic views. In a tweet from July 2020, Musk tweeted “the places are nasty,” but deleted the tweet after his then-partner, Canadian musician Grimes, pitted him against the tweet.

A few months later, in a series of tweets from December 2020, the founder of Tesla reportedly mocked people who listed their pronouns in their online biography.

Musk’s tweet read “when you put him / her in your resume” along with a cartoon of a soldier rubbing his bloodied hands over his face. The soldier is wearing a hat that says “I like to suppress.”

After Musk was criticized for the tweet, he defended himself by tweeting, “I absolutely support trance, but all these pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare.” He then tweeted that Tesla was number one on the Corporate Equality Index, which is an annual list of the best places for LGBTQ people to work.

The Human Rights Campaign, a charity that seeks to ensure equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, has called on Musk to apologize.

HRC shared a statement with CNBC, calling on the founder of SpaceX to apologize for mocking the use of pronouns.

“The Corporate Equality Index (CEI) is a comprehensive measure of policies, practices and benefits of non-discrimination in the workplace that are crucial to the full protection and inclusion of LGBTQ workers,” they wrote. “Tesla marked the 100th CEI 2020 on this crucial basis of inclusive policies and benefits of non-discrimination.”

“No benchmarking tool can fully take into account the daily experience of LGBTQ workers. The CEI criteria are in themselves a necessary basis for the inclusion of LGBTQ people, but they are not all that is needed to ensure a fully inclusive and friendly environment, ”they continued. “The CEI is not a cover for bad personal behavior, and the HRC condemns Musk’s tweets that mock pronouns.

They concluded their statement by saying: “Musk’s insensitive comments are the complete opposite of what the HRC Workplace Equality Program works with companies every day to create – providing employees with a safe, inclusive and equitable work environment.

The Blast turned to Vivian Jenna Wilson for comment. Neither Elon Musk nor Justin Wilson, Vivian’s parents, have yet commented publicly on Vivian’s name and gender reassignment.
