Inflation in the United Kingdom rose further to 9.1%, the highest level in 40 years amid the cost of living crisis.

Data from the National Statistics Service show a 9% increase in May in April, measured by the consumer price index, as petrol prices and the price of a weekly store put pressure on households across the country.

Last week, the Bank of England warned that inflation was about to reach 11% later this year amid rising gas and electricity prices.
