A man accused of murder after a fatal attack in Wallsend

A man has been charged with murder following an alleged attack in the Wallsend area of ​​North Tyneside.

Shortly before 2.30pm on Monday (June 20th), police were informed by an ambulance that a man had been injured on St. Hilda Avenue, the Holy Cross. Emergency services visited and found a 43-year-old man who received serious injuries, corresponding to being caused by an object with a blade, police said.

Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on the spot. The victim’s close relatives have been informed and continue to be supported by family specialists at the moment.

Mohamed Rabbani, 18, of Weldon Crescent, Heaton, was one of the men arrested in the investigation. He was later charged with murder and possession of an object with a blade. He is due to appear before North Tyneside magistrates on Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Louise Jenkins of Northumbria Police said: “It was an incredibly tragic incident and our thoughts remain with the victim’s family at the moment.

“I would like to thank the team of staff who have been working tirelessly since Monday on this investigation, as well as all those who have come out with information to support our investigations.

“A man must now appear in court accused of this incident, and I would ask the public to refrain from any speculation – both on social media and in the wider community – that could jeopardize the proceedings.
