GTA car theft: Two suspects arrested after gun incident in front of Burlington office building

Two people were arrested within an hour of stealing a gun car in front of a workplace in Burlington on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

It happened in a service parking lot near North Service Road and Burloak Drive around 4:50 p.m.

Police say a woman was boarding her 2020 Range Rover when she was approached by a suspect holding a firearm and ordered to get out of the vehicle.

The suspect then fled the scene in a Range Rover, while a second suspect, a woman, left the Dodge Journey where the couple arrived.

Police say Range Rover subsequently clashed near Upper Middle Road and Sutton Drive a little later.

The suspect tried to flee the scene on foot, but police in Halton managed to catch him, eventually seizing a firearm from a Range Rover.

Meanwhile, the suspect woman was spotted driving a Dodge Journey in the Appleby Line and Mainway areas moments later, around 5:30 p.m.

She was detained after officers stopped traffic.

Joshua Belshaw, 22, of St. Catharines and Kendra McLeod, 21, of Weland, have faced a number of charges, including gun robbery.

They are being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The arrests come amid a series of car thefts at the GTA in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, Toronto police charged two suspects with more than 100 crimes in connection with a dozen 11-day car thefts in the eastern part of the city.

Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner also stole his Range Rover with a gun in front of the Etobicoke cinema last month, an incident that remains unsolved.
