The mother of 9-year-old Daniel, 5-year-old Harry and 2-year-old Millie Neville-Lake, killed by a drunk driver in Vaughn in 2015, posted a photo of the children’s tombstone on Twitter on Father’s Day, 2022.

Edward Lake was arrested and taken away by police officers at his home in Brampton on Father’s Day, the last day he would be alive.

Peel Regional Police confirmed reports that officers were called to Lake’s home on Sunday, whose three young children and father-in-law were killed by drunken driver Marco Mutzo in 2015. Lake was charged with assault and released into custody of paramedics. who took him to a hospital, where he was examined and later released.

Lake was found dead Monday. CP24 and Global News reports say Lake died of suicide.

The call to the police was a “quarrel investigation” at Lake’s home, Const said. Heather Cannon, spokesman for Peel Police. Respondents were informed that police had been to Lake’s home before, but the call was “not directly related” to mental health.

“We are aware of and saddened by Mr Lake’s tragic death, as well as the tragic circumstances facing this family,” he said. Cannon. “We have visited Mr Lake’s residence before, but for reasons of confidentiality we are unable to share these details.

“We can confirm that we received a service call on Sunday to attend Mr. Lake’s residence. The call was to investigate a quarrel at home. Although there was no indication that the call was directly related to mental health, the staff present were duly informed of Mr Lake’s history and previous interactions.

“When officers arrived at the scene, a quarrel broke out between Mr Lake and police officers, which led to the deployment of a taser. As a result, paramedics were called. “

Like most police services, Peel has a mobile crisis response team or a crisis contact and support team. They are designed to help in cases where people have mental health crises.

Officers notified Peel’s victim services of the incident, and Lake received their contact information.

“Peel Regional Police had no more contact with Mr Lake after he was transported to hospital,” Cannon added.

That day, the mother of the children, Jennifer Neville-Lake, wrote a post on Twitter that seemed to show how the family is still deeply affected by the loss of their children.

“Father’s Day 2022. That doesn’t have to be real. It can’t be, “Neville Lake wrote.

Nine-year-old Daniel, 5-year-old Harry and 2-year-old Millie Neville-Lake, as well as their grandfather, 65-year-old Gary Neville, died on September 27, 2015 in Vaughan after a van was hit by a Muzzo junction. Two other family members were seriously injured.

It was later revealed that Mutzo, who went through a stop sign, had about three times the legal amount of alcohol in his system at the time. He was driving from Pearson International Airport after attending a bachelor party in Miami.

In 2016, Muzzo pleaded guilty to four counts of driving with disability causing death and two counts of driving with disability causing bodily harm, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison and banned from driving.

The city of Mississauga slightly renamed the park, named after his late grandfather and namesake, a highly respected developer, to avoid confusion.

In February 2021, Marco Mutzo received a full parole. One condition for his parole was that he remain outside Brampton.

“I do not ask for forgiveness and I never expect it,” he said at his parole hearing last year.
